Letter from Luke Dated 07/29/2013

Hola!

This week, with the 24th was a little crazy! We got to go to the parade, but we had a referral contest. The zone with the most referrals got to go to the temple with the mission president, and the Temple President. Pretty cool!

We didn't win. In fact we lost. By a ton. haha But we did have fun watching the parade. It was funny that when everyone in the crowd was like yelling and saying hi to people.

The people in the parade, Including the Sheriff, the Mayor, the Governor, and President Uchtdorf were all yelling at us and saying "Thanks for all you do Elders!" (That didn't make the anti's around us too happy.) But that was really fun! And

I also got to see my sisters, Hermana Walker, and Hermana Nielsen. They're visa waiters too. There's us three, and Hermana Bangerter still waiting from our district. We're all going to the same mission too! We're all really really anxious to get down there!

Afterwards we were walking back home, and we passed Sister Hosea's house. She invited us inside for some otai. It's a tongan drink that is made from watermelon, pineapple, apples, mango, and every other kind of delicious fruit. And it has bits and pieces of all the fruit still in it. SOOOO GOOD!!! It's pretty much the best thing I've ever tasted! She had it made in a big cooler. Like a really big cooler. She said that that was the second batch she made that day. And It was almost gone too!

We had interviews with the president again on Thursday. So that took most of our day!

Then on Friday I had to go with the zone leaders, because one of them had food poisoning. So he couldn't eat dinner. So I went to his dinner for him!

Transfers is this week. I dunno if i'll be staying here or leaving. I hope I stay here. I really hope I stay here! I think I've kinda made it clear to the president that the best thing for me would be to stay here! So we'll see what happens.

Love you all!!

Luke's Letter Dated 07-23-2013

Hey everyone!
Sorry i wasn't able to write yesterday. I had to go with the Zone Leaders to help them out for the day. I'm still with them. I'll probably go back to my normal home tonight sometime.

So Elder Hazlett left last wednesday. He was the only missionary that got his visa at that time. Other than that, this past week has been mostly normal.

We have been working really hard! On sunday I had to go to church with an english elder so he could go to all his wards. We went to the stake center behind the conference center. ( That's a long ride from our house!) While we were there we got a text from the other english elders saying Elder Oaks was at another church. So after sacrament meeting we hauled butt down to the other chapel.

We were on state street and about 200 south, I was looking back to tell Elder Maldonodo to hurry up. When Elder Putra stopped right in front of me. He yelled "Stop, Stop, Stop!" But I looked forward and it was just a little too late.  I tried to stop and avoid him, but I hit him just enough to throw me off balance, make me fall, roll along the ground for a moment, then proceed to jump up and say "I'm okay!" I guess it all looked pretty cool! But I ripped my suit pants and one of my white shirts! I wasn't too happy about that! But I got back on the bike and went along my way to the other church.

We got there just as sacrament meeting was ending. We went toSunday school, and at the door he greeted everyone. And said It's nice to meet an elder from (Wherever they were from) Then with me he said " It's nice to meet a visa waiter from utah." haha. Even Elder Oaks Calls me a visa waiter, not an elder. haha. It was knida funny!

We went outside and took a picture with him. Then we all went on our way! It was super cool though!

Hope you all had a good week! Love you!!

Luke's Letter Dated 07-15-2013

Hey!

So this week has been awesome!

We had Zone Conference. That was really good to get to meet our new mission president and see a lot of the things that he expects from us!

He has been pushing my companion Elder Hazlett and I really hard. He says that he realizes how hard it can be to be a Visa Waiter. And he wants us to be able to get past all that. So as part of that, we are actually not companions anymore. We split up and went with the other elders in our companionship.

So now I'm with Elder Revoir. He's from Florida. He's really pretty awesome! We're tearing it up! I got to give a talk in Sacrament meeting yesterday. I spoke on missionary work. Member missionary work in particular. It was all in Spanish, and the people didn't look too confused, So I think my Spanish was understandable!

Elder Hazlett's parents came up today! They took him and Elder Kuck out golfing, then took us all out to lunch! I'd heard so much about them, it was good to finally meet them!

I'm hoping that we will be able to get to Argentina before too long! We're thinking the end of this month. But we'll see!

Love you all,

 Elder Morgan

Letter from Luke dated 07-08-2013

Hey everyone!

This week has been a little crazy! We got to have like a half p day on monday. Then the rest of the night was back out working.

We finally got to meet our new mission president! His name is President Hansen. He's from St. George Utah. He was in one of the quorums of the 70 before his call to serve here. He's awesome! I have no doubt that he's going to do great things in this mission!

Thursday was quite possibly the best day ever! We got to have an all day P day. At 10 Zane came up and picked us all up. We did all of our shopping and that boring stuff. Then we went up to Bountiful for a mission party! We had a barbecue, launched paper rockets that we made, played volleyball, frisbee, and rugby. But mostly I just sat and hung out with zane, talked, looked at his new car. Just kinda like old times. It was really really fun!

On friday we had a Zone Meeting. The Zone Leaders talked about some of the changes that are going to be made. We're going to focus a lot more on personal conversion rather than just numbers.  I think this will be soo much better for the mission, the members, the investigators, the recent converts, and the missionaries. When you focus on personal conversion, results in numbers (baptisms etc.) are the natural outcome.

This monday morning was another awesome part of this week! My Mom and Stepdad came up and picked me and my companions up to go to breakfast! It was so good to see them!! ( And my dog haha )

I love you all! I hope you all have a great week!

Luke's Letter Dated July 1, 2013

Hello!

So not too much happened this week. We got a new mission president. And the old one went back to Delaware. Kinda bitter sweet. But all things must come to an end.

And our new president is awesome too! His name is President Hansen. From what i've heard about him, he's an awesome guy!

My companion and I gave talks in church on sunday. We both talked about missionary work. It was really kinda weird to give a talk in English rather than Spanish. Kinda nice really.

This week we have a fourth of July party! I'm really excited for it! I wish I could be at the cabin to celebrate the 4th. But this is probably the next best thing!

I hope you all the best this week! I love you all!
